Mission Statement

Mardan School's mission is to improve the academic and emotional well-being of any child who struggles with learning, social, and/or emotional challenges. Mardan provides a safe, therapeutic learning environment that teaches and supports the necessary academic, social, and coping skills needed for students to experience success.

Philosophy

Mardan believes that children deserve an opportunity to be happy, successful, and productive, and that they can achieve these goals when given the respect, understanding, and support they deserve within a competent and caring environment.

We believe nurturing individual potential and providing accessible opportunities for success at school enable children to build their self esteem and self confidence, and form healthy identities.

We believe it is the primary responsibility of our staff to create a safe and welcoming environment for each of our students. This means providing guidance and reinforcement to help students achieve emotional stability, direct instruction to develop academic and social skills, and opportunities to learn and access coping strategies needed to function successfully within the community.

We believe in fostering a strong sense of community that embraces our students with feelings of security, acceptance, and belonging. This is especially important for children and youth who are angry, anxious, isolated, or withdrawn, have experienced failure, or no longer trust in themselves or others. At Mardan, their strengths are valued, their weaknesses addressed, and they learn to be responsible for their choices and find satisfaction in what they can accomplish when their needs are met.
